How to Turn-On Two-Factor Authentication for Gmail ?
It is very easy to
setup Gmail 2-factor authentication.
- Go to
your Gmail account and select your profile picture.
- Choose Manage
Your Google Account.
- In
the left pane, select Security.
- Choose 2-Step
Verification.
- Click
Get Started.
- After
enter your password, select Next.
- Then
enter your mobile number, you will receive a code by SMS or phone call and then
select Next.
- Now
enter verification code & click Next.
- To
enable Gmail 2FA, click Turn On.
How to Turn-Off Two-Factor Authentication for Gmail ?
Actually we don’t recommend turning off Gmail’s 2-step
verification, but if you do, here are the instructions:
- Go to your Gmail account & click your
profile picture or icon.
- Choose Manage
Your Google Account.
- In
the left pane, select Security.
- Scroll down to 2-Step Verification and
sign in when prompted. Respond to the two-step verification method you've
enabled.
- Choose Turn Off.
- If you really want to turn off 2FA then select Turn Off when Google will display a warning message asking you to confirm it.
How to Set Up Alternate Verification Steps for Your Gmail Account ?
There are a couple
ways to verify other than a text or voice call. This is how to change the
second form of verification.
- Login to
your Gmail account & click your profile icon.
- Choose Manage
Your Google Account.
- Select Security.
- Select 2-Step
Verification.
- Click on
Add more second steps to verify your identity.
- Select from backup codes, a Google prompt, the Google Authenticator app, & more. Choose an option to configure it.
